What is CompaktAid?

UKCP CompaktAid is a precast block compaction and processing aid. It is a highly effective block and brick processing aid which improves compaction and density in semi-dry concrete applications.

Its blend of compaction and processing aids provides improved dispersion of pigments, which significantly improves the colour of the cast unit and gives better colour intensity. The compaction aids also increase density, which reduces porosity and in turn helps reduce the occurrence of efflorescence.

What is efflorescence?

Efflorescence is the white, powdery deposit that can appear on the surface of concrete and masonry. It forms when water carries soluble salts to the surface and then evaporates, leaving the salts behind. It is a common concern for coloured blocks and paving, because it dulls the appearance of the finished product.

Where is CompaktAid used?

CompaktAid is used to improve compaction and handling of all dry and semi-dry concrete processes, including:

  • Concrete blocks
  • Paving flags
  • Block paviours
  • Other concrete products made from dry or semi-dry mixes

Improved compaction properties also result in reduced machine stress and parts wear. For a high performance option that also targets binder reduction and roof tile production, look at CompaktAid Plus.

How to use CompaktAid

Dosage rates vary depending on mix design, process, aggregate type and the required consistency. Typical dosage rates range from 200ml to 600ml per 100kg of cement, which is 0.20% to 0.60% by weight of cement.

These figures are a guide only. The correct dosage for your process should be determined by laboratory trials, so confirm it with trials and with our technical support team.

For health and safety information, please refer to the Safety Data Sheet, available on request.

Packaging, storage and shelf life

CompaktAid is supplied in 200 litre drums and 1000 litre IBCs. Protect the product from extreme temperature, frost and direct sunlight. It has a minimum shelf life of 12 months.

Common questions about CompaktAid. For project specific advice, contact our technical team.

What is CompaktAid?

UKCP CompaktAid is a highly effective block and brick processing aid which improves compaction and density in semi-dry concrete applications. Its blend of compaction and processing aids also improves the dispersion of pigments, which significantly improves the colour of the cast unit.

How does CompaktAid help reduce efflorescence?

The compaction aids in CompaktAid increase the density of the concrete, which reduces porosity. Lower porosity in turn helps reduce the occurrence of efflorescence.

What products can CompaktAid be used in?

CompaktAid is used to improve compaction and handling in all dry and semi-dry concrete processes for blocks, paving flags, block paviours and other concrete products.

What is the typical dosage of CompaktAid?

Typical dosage rates range from 200ml to 600ml per 100kg of cement (0.20% to 0.60% by weight of cement). Dosage varies with mix design, process, aggregate type and the required consistency, and the correct dosage should be determined by laboratory trials. Our technical team can help.

What is the difference between CompaktAid and CompaktAid Plus?

Both are compaction and processing aids for semi-dry concrete. CompaktAid Plus is the high performance version, designed to improve cement dispersion for better early strengths, with binder reduction and increased compressive and flexural strengths listed among its benefits. It is also used for roof tiles.
