  • Maintaining equipment used with cementitious materials
  • All surfaces

What is Protekt?

Protekt is an environmentally safe protective compound for plant and equipment. It is a chemical release agent based on a blend of fatty acids dispersed in a vegetable oil base, and it is fully biodegradable.

When Protekt is in contact with cementitious material it forms calcium soaps, which act as a protective barrier layer. That stops concrete building up on plant and machinery and avoids the need to use corrosive acid based cleaners.

Where is Protekt used?

Protekt is suitable for use on all surfaces, and is used to maintain and protect plant, machinery and equipment that comes into contact with concrete and other cementitious products. It:

  • Reduces cleaning and maintenance costs, because hardened concrete does not bond to the treated surface
  • Avoids acid based cleaning agents, lubricating and cleaning without the risks they bring
  • Helps prevent rust, thanks to its excellent rust prevention characteristics

It is also low odour.

How to use Protekt

  1. Make sure the surface to be treated is dry and clean.
  2. Apply Protekt as supplied using a standard hand sprayer or roller.
  3. Leave it to dry.
  4. After use, jet wash away the dried on cementitious material. The biodegradable surfactants in Protekt act like a detergent and aid the cleaning process.
  5. Once the equipment is clean and dry, re-apply a protective coating and allow it to dry.

A typical coverage rate of upwards of 30m² per litre can be achieved when used as supplied, depending on the surface porosity and the material it is being used on. Confirm the rate with a trial and speak to our technical team for advice.

Where equipment already carries hardened concrete, Concremove can be used to remove the deposits before Protekt is applied to prevent future build up.

For health and safety information, refer to the Safety Data Sheet, available on request.

Packaging, storage and shelf life

Protekt has a shelf life of 12 months in sealed containers from the date of manufacture and must be used within 2 months of opening. No specific storage requirements apply, but protect it from frost and keep containers sealed after use. If stored for more than 6 months, it may need mild agitation before use. For current pack sizes, please contact UKCP.

Protekt FAQs

Common questions about Protekt. For project specific advice, contact our technical team.

What is Protekt?

Protekt is a chemical release agent based on a blend of fatty acids dispersed in a vegetable oil base. It prevents concrete build up on plant and machinery, avoiding the need to use corrosive acid based cleaners. It is safe for the environment and fully biodegradable.

How does Protekt stop concrete sticking to equipment?

When Protekt comes into contact with cementitious material it forms calcium soaps. These act as a protective barrier layer between the concrete and the treated surface.

How do I apply Protekt?

Make sure the surface is dry and clean, then apply Protekt as supplied using a standard hand sprayer or roller and leave it to dry.

How do I clean equipment treated with Protekt?

Jet wash away the dried on cementitious material. The biodegradable surfactants in Protekt act like a detergent and aid the cleaning process. Once the equipment is clean and dry, re-apply a protective coating and allow it to dry.

What coverage does Protekt give?

A typical coverage rate of upwards of 30m² per litre can be achieved when used as supplied, depending on the surface porosity and the material being treated. Confirm the rate with a trial and ask our technical team for advice.

How long does Protekt keep?

Protekt has a shelf life of 12 months in sealed containers from the date of manufacture and must be used within 2 months of opening. If it has been stored for more than 6 months it may need mild agitation before use.
