What is FASTSET 1?
FASTSET 1, also referred to as FASTSET FS1, is a rapid setting repair compound in the UKCP concrete repair range. It sets within 5 to 10 minutes, depending on temperature, and conforms to Class R3 of EN 1504-3. It combines two technologies:
- Special cements, which provide a rapid set and very high early strengths
- Powder polymers, which provide strong adhesion to the substrate and improved surface hardness
The result is a repair material that sets in minutes and bonds well, so cosmetic defects can be made good quickly.
Where is FASTSET 1 used?
FASTSET 1 has been developed for precast applications where rapid repair to damaged surfaces is required. Mixed with water, it is applied to damaged areas and can be shaped and profiled to provide a seamless repair. Main application areas are the repair of in-situ and precast concrete, including:
- Filling surface voids and blowholes
- Concrete pipe spigots and sockets
- Damaged concrete floors and steps
For deeper or structural repairs, or where reinforcement is exposed, speak to our technical support team before starting work.
How to use FASTSET 1
Because FASTSET 1 sets so quickly, have your tools, water and finishing equipment ready before you mix.
- Prepare the surface. Make sure it is sound, clean and free from laitance, loose materials, oil, grease and other surface contaminants. If necessary, hack the surface back to a sound substrate.
- Damp down. Wet the surface with clean water to reduce suction.
- Prime difficult substrates. For improved adhesion, brush on a slurry of water and FASTSET 1 mixed at 1:4 by volume.
- Mix a small quantity. In a clean container, add water to the powder in small quantities until the desired consistency is achieved. The typical water to powder ratio is 1:5 by weight.
- Apply and finish promptly. Shape and profile the repair straight away, before it begins to set.
Do not mix more material than can be used within the setting time. The recommended minimum application temperature is 5°C, and a 10kg pack gives an approximate yield of 5.10 litres. Mix ratios are typical and vary with the application, so confirm them with trials and our technical team.

Health and safety
Refer to the FASTSET 1 Safety Data Sheet, available on request, for full instructions. Wear suitable PPE, including gloves and goggles, when handling.
Packaging, storage and shelf life
FASTSET 1 is supplied in 15kg paper sacks. Avoid storing at temperatures below 5°C or above 30°C. When stored correctly, it has a shelf life of 12 months from date of manufacture.
