What is FASTSET FS120?
FASTSET FS120 is a polymer modified, cementitious repair compound for cosmetic concrete repair. It sets in 2 hours, depending on temperature, to suit rapid repair of concrete structures. After 2 hours there is a rapid strength gain, which provides high early strengths from 2 hours onwards.
It contains special cements, which provide rapid set and early strength development, and powder polymers, which provide strong adhesion to the substrate along with improved surface hardness. FASTSET FS120 conforms to Class R3 of EN 1504-3.
Where is FASTSET FS120 used?
FASTSET FS120 has been developed for precast applications where damaged surfaces need repair. Mixed with water, it is applied to damaged areas and can be shaped and profiled to provide a seamless repair. Main application areas are the repair of in-situ and precast concrete, including:
- Filling surface voids and blowholes
- Concrete pipe spigots and sockets
- Damaged concrete floors and steps
Its controlled 2 hour set at 20°C allows a larger quantity of repairs to be carried out from each mix.
How to use FASTSET FS120
- Prepare the surface. Make sure it is sound, clean and free from laitance, loose materials, oil, grease and other surface contaminants. If necessary, hack the surface back to a sound substrate.
- Damp down. Wet the surface with clean water to reduce suction.
- Prime difficult substrates. For improved adhesion, brush on a slurry of water and FASTSET FS120 mixed at 1:4 by volume.
- Mix. In a clean container, add water to the powder in small quantities until the desired consistency is achieved. The typical water to powder ratio is 1:5 by weight.
- Apply and shape. Place the repair, then shape and profile it to match the surrounding concrete.
Do not mix more material than can be used within the setting time. The recommended minimum application temperature is 5°C, and a 10kg pack gives an approximate yield of 5.10 litres. Mix ratios are typical and vary with the application, so confirm them with trials and our technical team.
Health and safety
Refer to the FASTSET FS120 Safety Data Sheet, available on request, for full instructions. Wear suitable PPE, including gloves and goggles, when handling.
Packaging, storage and shelf life
FASTSET FS120 is supplied in 15kg paper sacks. Avoid storing at temperatures below 5°C or above 30°C. When stored correctly, it has a shelf life of 12 months from date of manufacture.
