LSA Max liquid screed admixture from UK Construction Products

Liquid Screed Admixtures

LSA Max

LSA Max is a liquid admixture for semi-dry screeds, developed to give very rapid drying times, high early strength and foot traffic after 24 hours. It produces a Cat A, C40, F7 screed with compressive strengths of up to 60 N/mm².

UKCP screed admixtures speed up drying and increase the strength of sand and cement screeds, so floors are ready for following trades sooner and perform better in service. The range covers semi-dry screeds and traditional sand and cement screeds, in liquid and powder form.

What is in the screed admixtures range?

  • LSA Max: a liquid admixture for semi-dry screeds, developed for very rapid drying and high early and ultimate strength.
  • PSA: a powder admixture in 200g water soluble sachets for traditional sand and cement screeds.

Quick guidance:

  • Fast drying is the priority: LSA Max.
  • Thin bonded screeds: LSA Max, from 20mm bonded.
  • Simple site dosing in a traditional screed: PSA sachets.

Our article on choosing the right screed admixture goes into more detail.

Where are UKCP screed admixtures used?

  • Bonded, unbonded and floating screeds
  • Screeds over underfloor heating
  • Internal and external floors
  • Housing, schools, hospitals, retail and commercial buildings
  • Screeds receiving tiles, natural stone, timber, parquet, vinyl, linoleum and carpet

Why do screed drying times matter?

Moisture sensitive floor finishes cannot be laid until the screed is dry enough, and on many projects that wait sits on the critical path. A rapid drying admixture shortens it, while higher early strength allows earlier foot traffic. Always check screed moisture before laying floor coverings. Our guides to screed drying times and semi-dry screed over underfloor heating explain the practical steps.

Supply formats

LSA Max comes in 20 litre and 200 litre drums and 1000 litre IBCs. PSA is supplied in 200g water soluble sachets, 80 to a box.

Technical support and bespoke formulation

UKCP has over 30 years' technical experience developing additives and admixtures for dry mortars, silo mortars and concrete applications. Our technical support team can advise on dosage, mix design and application, and each product is summarised in the technical datasheets. For manufacturers with specific requirements, we develop bespoke formulations. To test a product with your own sand and cement, request a sample.

Screed Admixtures FAQs

Answers to common questions about this collection. For advice on a specific mix or project, contact our technical team.

What is a screed admixture?

A screed admixture is a material added in small quantities to a sand and cement screed to improve its properties. UKCP screed admixtures speed up drying, increase early and ultimate strength, improve finishing and reduce the water needed for a workable mix.

Which screed admixture should I use over underfloor heating?

LSA Max and PSA are both suitable for screeds over underfloor heating. Ask our technical team for curing guidance before the heating is commissioned.

How soon can floor coverings be laid on a screed?

It depends on the admixture, screed thickness and drying conditions. For PSA screeds, floor coverings can typically be installed 1 to 3 weeks after casting, and moisture should always be checked in line with BS 8203 before laying.

What is the difference between LSA Max and PSA?

LSA Max is a liquid admixture for semi-dry screeds, developed for very rapid drying with foot traffic after 24 hours and a Cat A, C40, F7 screed with up to 60 N/mm² achievable. PSA is a powder admixture in water soluble sachets for traditional sand and cement screeds, which can be lightly trafficked after 24 hours.

Can screed admixtures be used in external screeds?

Yes. LSA Max is suitable for internal and external applications. Contact our technical team for advice on external screed design and protection during curing.
